Wambua terms Mwamba’s first win as ‘massive and much needed’

Mwamba Rugby Club Head Coach Kevin Wambua has termed their first win of the season as “massive and a much needed one.”

Kulabu started off the year on a high with a 28-10 win against Blak Blad in a match staged at Ruaraka Grounds. It was Mwamba’s first win of the season which saw them climb to number nine on the log.

In an interview with the Scrummage, the tactician describe their start to the season as tough as they had to face top placed teams in the league.

“It’s massive, our first win of the season. Its been a tough start so its massive for us in terms of how we approach the month now that we have favorable games coming up. So far, we have played against teams placed in top four so it was a bit tough.”

Mwamba had lost all their opening matches last year and one clash against KCB postponed due to health and safety protocols.

Wambua says the win will act as an inspiration and motivation for his boys to turn up heading to this week training. The coach is also optimistic that his charges will keep up with the spirit for their next match.

“The win will give us confidence and it will motivate the boys to come for training and that’s what we really needed, something to jumpstart our season.”

“We want to see how we can build up from there but it’s very positive for the team and hopefully we can bring the same energy to the next week’s game.”

Mwamba will take on Nakuru RFC next weekend at the RFUEA Grounds
