Strathmore edge MMUST to return to winning ways

Strathmore Leos bounced back to winning ways by beating MMUST Rugby 25-24 in a Kenya Cup clash at Madaraka Grounds.

Leos has beaten MMUST in the last two meetings but MMUST who were determined to end the run fought to lead 17-12 at halftime. Eric Cantona gave the Lurambi based side a 3-0 lead. Tries by Biden Hayo and Norbert Lumbwani followed with Cantona converting for a 17 points.

The host who led once in the match scored through Bethuel Anami and Brunson Madigu who converted his own try for 12 points.

In the final half, MMUST kicked off their half with a try from Jadha Abdon and Cantona added the extra points for a 24-12 lead.

MMUST allowed the hosts to close the gap with Andrew Matoka and Gideon Makumi scoring two unconverted tries and debutant Stephen Osumba who is on loan from KCB Rugby turned out to be the hero for his new side as he drilled in a late penalty for a 25-24 win for Strathmore.

MMUST pick a losing bonus and have now lost three matches in a row.
