Mwamba defeat Blak Blad for first win in Kenya Cup

Mwamba picked the first win of the season as they defeated Blak Blad 28-10 in an early kick off Kenya Cup match staged at KCB Sports Club

Kulabu had several key names back including veteran Collins Injera, Joel Inzuga, Mike Okello (from suspension), Tony Owuor and managed to snap a three match winless run thanks to 15 points from Charles Kuka who scored a try, two conversion and two penalties. Mwamba scored three tries in the win.

Lionel Ajelity Ekesa gave Blad the first points of the game drilling in a penalty in the seventh minute of the game. His second attempt bounced off the posts for the scores to remain 3-0. Blad were reduced to 14 when their hooker was yellow carded after 13 minutes of play.

Mwamba had to wait till the 25th minute to get the response. Their leading points scorer Charles Kuka crossed over for a try after a combination between George Omolla, Joel Inzuga that saw him put through for the opener.

Kuka converted his own try to hand his side a four point lead after 25 minutes of play. They held on to the lead till the halftime break.

On return from the break, Ajelity returned to the scoresheet with a try that was converted to restore Blad’s three point lead.

Mwamba then earned a penalty that Kuka converted to tie the scores at 10-10 after he hit the target. Kulabu regained the lead minutes later, after landing a scrum in Blad’s territory, Tony Owuor rose from the back of the scrum and scored. Kuka added the extras for 17-10 lead.

Kuka’s two penalty successive penalaties saw his side lead a 23-10 lead. Mwamba then shoved the scrum to land the third try of the match.

Mwamba walk away with four points.
