Kenya 7s training squad for upcoming World 7s Series legs announced

Kenya 7s training squad that is currently preparing for the third and fourth legs of the World 7s Series campaign has been revealed.

Head Coach Innocent Simiyu has 27 players in the camp and they include Jone Kubu who was part of the Kenya Simbas squad in 2021. Kubu is joined by clubmates Derrick Ashihundu and Kevin Wekesa who made his World 7s Series debut in 2021. Menengai Oilers Timothy Okwemba and John Okoth, Blad’s Ernest Kuke have also been called up.

Benson Salem, Arcadius Khwesa, Zedden Marrow, Collins Shikoli and Hannington Wabwire who were part of the Safari 7s Tournament have been included in the squad.

Nelson Oyoo, Jeff Oluoch, Bush Mwale, Alvin Otieno, Billy Odhiambo Timothy Mmasi, Herman Humwa, Johnstone Olindi, Mark Kwemoi have all been retained after featuring in the opening legs while Vincent Onyala returns.

Simiyu is working to build a strong squad that will represent Kenya at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and Rugby World Cups 7s in Cape Town July and September 2022 respectively.

The camp which kicked off on 3rd January after breaking briefly for the December festivities will run until they depart to Spain for the Malaga7s and Seville7s tournaments on 21st-23rd and 28th-30th Jan respectively.

In the Malaga tournament, Shujaa has been pooled alongside France, Canada and Wales in Pool D.
