MMUST registered the second win in Kenya Cup beating Homeboyz 22-17 in a Kenya Cup encounter at MMUST Grounds on Saturday.

They had beaten Nondies in the 24-15 last weekend while Homeboyz had lost 18-10 to KCB in the opener. MMUST stood tall to beat the deejays thanks to three tries, two conversions, and penalties.

MMUST opened the scoring after an immediate camp at Homeboys territory proved successful, Nelson Makokha set up Baron who dashed over the whitewash, metres off the corner flag. Nobert Lumbwani missed the extras for a 5-0 MMUST lead.

Homeboyz responded immediately through Brian Ratila who dashed past MMUST defence with some electric pace to score at the corner flag. Amon Wamalwa missed the extras from the conversion and the scorers were tied at 5-5.

Mmust we’re back in front at the half-hour mark as Lumbwani penalty gave them a 8-5 lead.

Mmust continued piling more pressure, setting camp at Homeboyz half, and were later rewarded with a try, Jadah Abdon with a powerful pick and carry from a scrum just outside the five metres line scored to stretch their lead. Amunya added the extras for a 15-5 MMUST lead, going into the break.

MMUST picked from where they left at the start of the second half, Biden with a powerful run from his own half to ruck at Homeboys 22 metre line. Felix Wamocho picked the ball and evaded tackles to score, Byron Ogada added the extras for a 22-5 MMUST lead.

The pressure immediately shifted to the host, Homeboyz making a camp inside their half. Their efforts were paid off, with two quick tries from Joseph Amalemba and Dan Kagwa. Ratila converted Kagwa’s try to reduce the deficit to 22-17.

MMUST held on to win.
