South Coast Pirates appoint Habib Zuga Habweri as Team Manager

KRU Championship side South Coast Pirates Rugby Club have appointed Zuga Habweri as their new team manager.

The position fell vacant after Kevin Amiani was escalated to be the Head Coach. The club confirmed Zuga’s appointment on Friday.

“Congratulations to Habib Zuga Habweri on being appointed the new Team Manager for South coast pirates.Zuga has been with us from the start as a player and SCPA coach. He’s a very welcome addition to the Management Committee and we know he’ll be a great asset to the whole Club. Onward and upwards” Reads the club statement.

Zuga, the long-serving Pirates midfielder and fullback has been an ever-present figure for the Diani-based club and is confident of delivering at the club.

“I am really honoured, to be honest. It’s a new responsibility and am looking forward to working with the players and committee to ensure we achieve our mission and vision as a club” he told the Scrummage.

His playing days were halted by a long injury he sustained in 2018. He already had 46 caps for pirates.
He also doubles as a professional Teacher of English literature at Mwamzandi Girls secondary school in Msambweni.

Zuga says he has amassed the requisite managerial experience through working with Kevin Amiani and termed it as “positive impact”.

His appointment has been highly welcomed by club faithful and Pirates back row Cliphod Odhiambo believes he’s the man to take pirates to the next level.

“Am happy for him and it’s a great achievement to players and the club in general, The chairman and the committee trusted him and he deserves it, to say the least. Good luck to him” he said.

Pirates will travel to the Capital city to play USIU in the long-awaited KRU league opener, before hosting Egerton University the following weekend.
