Kenya Cup side Kenya Harlequins have confirmed the appointment of Senegalese Amady Diallo as their new Head Coach ahead of the new campaign.
Diallo replaces Belgian Antoine Plasman who led the side in the opening Kenya Cup matches for the 2021 campaign. Plasman’s exit saw former Kenyan International Patrice Agunda lead the side in the remainder of the season. Agunda guided the side to a fifth-place finish, just two points below the semi-final mark.
Diallo who has a world Rugby level three certification has been handed a three-year deal at the club. He is expected to work with Agunda and Eden Agero as his technical bench members.
“Karibu Sana Head Coach Amady Diallo,” the club announced.
Diallo has previously coached the Lebanon national team, Froggies, and Senegalese side Jambars Rugby Club. He also coached the Senegal Women’s Rugby team and Castres in France.
The Senegalese becomes the fourth tactician to lead the side since 2018. Charles Cardovillis led the side in the 2018/19 season, resigned, and was replaced by Dominique Habimana who left at the end of the 2019/20 season after the side struggled in the season.
Habimana was then replaced by Plasman who left the post on medical grounds.
