FASU 7s quarterfinal pairings and day one results

Four Kenyan Universities have qualified for the quarterfinal stage of the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) sevens scheduled for Makerere University’s Graveyard – IMPIS grounds on Sunday.

MMUST did not travel to Uganda and all the teams drawn against them were handed walk-overs. The University of Stellenbouch ranked top after the pool stage matches and they will face off with MUBS in the first quarterfinal.

The second quarterfinal will see defending the Champions University of Johannesburg who ranked second after pool stage matches take on Jomo Kenyatta University.

Kenyatta University have been paired against hosts Makerere University. The final quarter will be a Kenyan derby pitting USIU and Daystar University.

The winner of the tournament will represent Africa at the FISU World Cup to be held in Kazan, Russia in 2022.

University of Johannesburg won the 2019 edition, beating Martyrs 12-0 in the final at Imps College in 2019.

USIU finished fourth in the competition after falling 10-0 to Makerere University in the bronze.
