Impala Saracens appoint ex-Kenya 7s Star Oscar Osir as head coach

Kenya Cup side Impala Saracens have appointed former Kenya 7s star Oscar Osir as the club’s Head Coach ahead of the new season.

Osir who has been the backs coach and in charge of the Impala 7s side has been elevated to the head coach role following the exit of Coach Mitch Ocholla.

Scrummage understands Ocholla resigned from his role early last week. It was after just two seasons with the Ngong road-based side having joined them from Impala Saracens.

Osir’s reign started on 1st October and will be reporting to the Club’s board.

“We write with reference to the appointment of Oscar Osir as the Impala Rugby Club Head Coach effective 1st October 2021 reporting directly to the Impala Club committee, ” reads part of the statement in the memo.

“As part of his roles and duties, he shall be tasked with: Coordination and coaching of all matters relating to competitions, leagues, and any other engagements involving all teams,” the statement adds.

“On behalf of the Impala Saracens Rugby Club, we wish him all the best and success in the role as we rebuild into the new season, ” it concludes.

Osir led the 7s side in close to 18 tournaments winning collecting a total of 230 points in the tournaments.
