Nondies rise from bottom with win over Blak Blad

Nondies climbed out of position 11 on the Kenya Cup standings after a 34-13 win over Blak Blad in a Kenya Cup match played at RFUEA Grounds.

The side has leapfrogged Blad Blad and Mwamba and has tied points with MMUST and Nakuru who have 10 points each. Blak Blad have dropped to 11th after the loss.

Willis Ojal charges were from the first win of the season which has seen them pick an 18-5 victory over Kenya Harlequins. The white shirts conceded first in the match with Kelvin Gathu earning Blak Blad three points.

They replied with three beautiful tries, former Blak Blad backrower Steve Odhiambo produced a big carry which saw him dive over for the first try that Kanyiri Kariuki converted.

The second try emanated from the midfield with Benjamin Marshall’s big carry seeing him gain ground and he released outside Charles Odhiambo who dived over for a five-pointer.

Odhiambo scored the third try immediately from the restart. A kick landed in his hands and he accelerated, hitting the space ahead of him before selling a dummy that left his markers well beaten to score.

Nondies proceeded to the shades leading 19-8 after Dennis Opiyo scored Blak Blad’s opening try. In the final half, Nondies got two tries with Charles Omondi scoring their final try.

Blad had scored a converted try in the half. The win saw Nondies walk away with five points.
