Kabras hand Menengai Oilers third straight loss

Kabras stretched their winning run in the 2021 Kenya Cup campaign to six matches in a row after seeing off Menengai Oilers 38-9 in a Rai Derby played at Nandi Bears Club.

With maximum points in each of their opening six matches, the Sugarmen have now collected 30 points. For Oilers, this was their third straight loss of the Kenya Cup campaign. Their last win was against MMUST on 19th June.

In the match, Ntabeni Dukisa and Austin Sikutwa traded kicks for Oiler to lead 6-3. Kabras would score their opening try through Kenya Simbas youngster Eugene Sifuna after he danced past his markers to touch down. Dukisa added the extras for a 10-6 lead.

Kabras second try was from Uganda Cranes prop Asuman Mugerwa who bulldozed his way to the try-line to score at the centre. His try was converted by Dukisa for a 17-6 lead.

Towards the end of the first half, Timoci Senaite was sent off for 10 minutes following a yellow card. Oilers trimmed the gap to change the scores to 17-9.

Editor’s pick:

Kabras came from the break eyeing a bonus point to pile pressure on leaders KCB. They quickly got the third try with Kenya Simbas start Brian Tanga side-stepping past Oilers defence for a converted try that widened the gap to 24-9.

Tanga earned his side the bonus point try by breaking from his own half and racing on to score at the centre. A successful conversion by Dukisa changed the scores to 31-9.

Centre Bryceson Agesa joined the scoresheet with a centre post try for a 38-9 lead after being put through by Felix Ayange. The scoreline would remain unchanged till full-time with Kabras picking five points.
