KRU Championship side Northern Suburbs are mourning the death of their strength and conditioning coach Kelvin “Kaukaa” Omondi.
According to a statement by the club, Omondi died on 15th May 2021 after allegedly being stabbed by a neighbour after a misunderstanding. The matter is currently being investigated by police.
Northern Suburbs announced his demise via a statement posted on their social media accounts
“It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of Coach Kelvin Omondi (Kaukaa), who was Northern Suburbs strength and conditioning coach,” reads a statement on the club’s Instagram.
“Kelvin died after a small misunderstanding with his neighbour who stabbed him to death on 15th May 2021. The police are investigating the matter. Heartfelt thoughts go out to Family, Friends and Cubs Family,” the statement concluded.
Kenya Rugby Union sent a message of condolences to the club of family. The message states: “We join the Northern Suburbs community in mourning their Strength and Conditioning Coach Kelvin “Kaukaa” Omondi who passed away on Saturday 15 May 2021. May his family, friends and colleagues find strength during this trying time.”
