Kenya 7s winger Jacob Ojee is expected to be on the sidelines for five weeks following an ankle ligament tear.
Ojee picked the ankle injury on the first weekend of the Rugby Africa Solidarity 7s and missed the closing leg of the camp.
Shujaa Head Coach Innocent Simiyu confirmed that the winger has already begun his rehab and he hopes he will be available for selection by the time the team travels to the USA for the Quest for Gold 7s set for Los Angeles.
“Ojee got an ankle ligament tear and he will be out for the next five weeks, he has already started his rehab process and we are wishing him a quick recovery and hopefully with his commitment in the game, he can come back sooner and be available for the LA7s, ” Simiyu is told KRU official portal.
The coach also revealed that Harold Anduvate was not used during the final weekend having picked a slight strain on his shoulder. The decision not to use him was to ensure they do not aggravate the injury.
The coach expects the Menengai Oilers forward to be available once the training session for the Los Angeles trip kick-off in Nairobi.
“Anduvate got a slight strain on his shoulder ligament so we took the precaution of resting him so that we don’t aggravate it further but he’ll be fit by the time we’re resuming training back in Nairobi,” he concluded.
Kenya 7s finished second in the competition after a 31-7 loss to South Africa.
