Kenya 7s dominance over neighbours Uganda continued as they staged a second-half comeback to win 24-7 in the fifth match of the Rugby Africa Solidarity 7s played on Sunday.
Shujaa has now played five matches and have won four meaning they will rank second after the completion of the pool stage matches.
Just like the opening match of the day Innocent Simiyu charges did not have a good first half. Shujaa found themselves behind after Philip Wokorach dashed past Kenya’s defence line to score a converted try.
Kenya responded towards the end of the first half with Billy Odhiambo producing a big carry before releasing an offload to Nelson Oyoo on the right wing and the Nakuru RFC man outmanoeuvred his markers to cut the gap to two points with a try at the corner.
From the break, Shujaa upped their game and a switch of play by Odhiambo opened up space for Oyoo to race and dive for the second try at the centre. The try was converted to stretch the lead to 12-7.
Support play between Herman Humwa and Alvin Otieno saw the latter scorer at the left side to push the scores to 17-7 . The final try was instant as Humwa tapped the ball back from kick off and Taabu went on to score at the centre for a converetd try . A knock on in the try-box in the final minutes of the game denied Shujaa the fifth try.
Kenya will be back in action later in the evening for the final match.
