Kenya 7s defeat Zimbabwe in Solidarity 7s opener

Two converted tries in the first half and two unconverted tries in the final half handed Kenya 7s a 24-0 win over Zimbabwe in the first match of the Rugby Africa Solidarity 7s camp played on Saturday Morning.

Zim failed to captilize on Kenya’s two handling errors in the first minutes of the game. Kenya then struck first with Jacob Ojee slipping past his two markers deep in his own territory and raced to score a try that Tony Omondi converted.

Kenya added a converted try to take 14-0 lead heading to the break.

In the second, Alvin Buffa Otieno touched down on the left stretching the lead to 19-0 after a missed conversion.

Kenya would seal their victory with a five-pointer to start off the competition on a bright note. Kenya will face South Africa 1 in the second match set for 12:30 PM.

South Africa 1 came from behind to beat Uganda 26-7 in the first match of the competition.
