Kenyan International back-row Monate Akuei was on target on his competitive debut for his new club Old Blues Rugby in a 71-12 win over New York Rugby Club in the American Rugby Premiership.
The 23-year-old former Nakuru RFC loose forward moved to Old Blues Rugby which features in the American Rugby Premiership in mid April 2021 and on Saturday evening he wasted no chance in seizing the opportunity to impress his new employers and club passionate fans.
Monate touched down five tries and set up teammate Kevin Braithwaite for another try as his club picked a huge 71-12 win in their opening match of the season.

Speaking to the scrummage the speedster Monate expressed joy after the win.
“Am happy, I have settled, feels like home already, can’t wait to win more games with the team,” Monate stated.
Asked of his targets for season, Monate said he is focused to help the team go unbeaten and finally clinch the title at the end of the season.
“Yes we want to go unbeaten and win the season, I believe good things will follow after that”.
Monate has been included in 102 Kenya Simbas provisional squad ahead the 2021 international season.
He last appeared in Kenya Cup for Nakuru in early 2020 and later moved to USA where he has been for close to a year. The forward was part of the successful candidates in the 2020 Rugby Combines.
His new club features in a six-team competition which has the likes of Life Running Eagles, Mystic River, 404 Rugby Atlanta, New York Athletic.
