Kenya 7s lose to France in Emirates 7s semis

Kenya 7s will play Japan in the third-place playoffs after losing 17-5 to France in the Emirates Invitational 7s semis played at The Sevens Stadium pitch 3 on Saturday.

The match against Japan is expected to kick off at 4:48 East African Time.  Kenya and France had shared the spoils on Friday after tying 19-19 and when they met in the semis, France were off a huge win over Uganda while Kenya had beaten Canada 21-19.

France bagged two tries in the first half but failed to convert. They would head to the break leading 10-0.  In the closing half, the Frenchmen breached Kenya’s defence to score a try at the centre and converted for a 17-0 lead

Kenya 7s pulled back with a try by Daniel Taabu who has been in fine form in the competition. The resultant conversion missed the target and France would reach the final where they play Argentina at 5:32 EAT.

Argentina qualified for the final after beating Japan 24-0 in the first semi-final. The side which won a double at Madrid 7s dotted three tries in the first half and converted two to lead 19-0. In the final half, they added a five-pointer to qualify for the final.
