Kenya Rugby Union has appointed KCB tactician Curtis Olago as the Kenya Under 20 Head Coach ahead of the 2021 Barthes Cup.
The four-time Kenya Cup-winning coach replaces Paul Odera who was elevated to the Kenya Simbas Head Coach role after the winning the Barthes Cup in 2019. KRU has handed the former Mean Machine, Kisumu, Impala, Nondescripts and KCB star a two-year deal.
Olago first assignment will be overseeing Chipu’s defence of the Barthes U20 trophy with the matches set for Kenya in March. The competition will kick off on 25 March and end on 4 April 2021.
” Curtis Olago has been appointed the Head Coach of the Kenya U20 national team, Chipu. Olago,whose first assignment will be overseeing Chipu’s defence of the Barthes U20 trophy, has been handed a two-year deal,” reads part of the statement by KRU.

“Chipu is an important cog of the Elite Player Development pathway and The Kenya Rugby Union Board congratulates Olago on his appointment to this role.”
Commenting on his new role, Olago said, ” It is a huge honor to be called upon to handle a national side. I am humbled by the appointment and look forward to steering Chipu to even greater heights.”
Kenya Under 20 will be hoping to defend the trophy they won in 2019 after beating Namibia 21-18 at KCB Sports Club.
