The Kenya Cup campaign is now expected to kick off on February 27 2021 after the promotion matches are played.
Kenya Rugby Union has received clearance from the Ministry of sports to have the matches. KRU Championship clubs still in the race for the available two Kenya Cup slots have been informed that their playoffs matches will be staged in early February.
“Following clearance from the Ministry of Sport, Culture and Heritage, the 2021 Kenya Cup season will kick off on Saturday 27 February 2021 and will run for 11 match days with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-finals on Saturday 22 May. The winners of the semi-final encounters will play in the Kenya Cup final on Saturday 29 May.”reads a statement by KRU.
Clubs awaiting the promotion playoffs include Mean Machine who will face Egerton Wasps in the first quarter while USIU are to host Northern Suburbs in the second clash with all matches taking place on 6 February.

The winners will proceed to the semi-final to face Strathmore Leos and MMUST on 13 February to determine who will head to the top tier.
The two promoted sides will start the campaign against KCB and Kabras on 27 February. The regular Kenya Cup season is expected to run till 8 May with the campaign adopting a one-off system.
The competition will then proceed straight to the semis final stage on 22 May and the finals are slated for 29 May 2021.
