Kenyan International Collins Injera landed his third try of the tournament as SX10 beat Phoenix 30-0 in their second match of the World 10s Series played at Bermuda National Stadium.
Harry McNulty bagged three tries but one try was not counted as he scored while his team had an extra-man on the pitch.
Once again, all the Kenya 7s stars started in the match. SX10 lost Gary Porter 30 seconds into the game after he picked a knock and was stretched off. They would score at the third minute through Cory Daniel but his try was cancelled following a neck tackle in the build-up to the try.
A beautiful continuity play initiated by Willy Ambaka saw the side come close and it was Harry McNulty who scored the opening try and two more points from the conversion jeopardy earned the side seven points at the ninth minute.
In the final half, McNulty rose from a tackle to scored from close range. Conversion jeopardy from long-range saw the SX10 move to 17. McNulty’s third try came off a line out and he broke away after receiving the ball and raced on to score his third. Five more points from conversion jeopardy widened the gap.
Injera who bagged a brace in the opener scored his third try of the tournament at the left corner after another long-range pass and five points from the conversion jeopardy saw the side lead 37-0 with seconds to play. Seven points were deducted from their score having scored the first try while having 11 men on the pitch instead of 10.
Earlier, Miami Sun against Ohio Aviators was the first match to end in a draw after Cima Benjamin’s conversion jeopardy keycap digit five-pointer levelled the scores and the match headed to the shootout for the first time in the tournament.
Matt Turner bagged three points in the shoot out for Miami Sun to win the clash.
