Kenya Simbas forward Monate Akuei is keen to make Kenya and Africa proud having landed a professional contract for the World 10s Series.
The Nakuru Academy graduate was part of the players that were offered pro-contracts after emerging as the best performer at the Tiger combines event held on 29 August 2020 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
He hopes that with the contract he will be able to support his family back at home and he is excited to be representing the nation and the continent at the World 10s Series.
“I want to support my family and getting this professional contract will help me to do that and make sure I can look after my family back home. I am also excited to represent Kenya and Africa and make people proud,” Monate is quoted by World 10s.
Monate is expected to first feature in the Bermuda 10s. Kenya 7s stars Andrew Amonde, Collins Injera, Willy Ambaka, Oscar Ouma and Oscar Dennis are also expected to feature in the tournament with Cape Town-based SFX 10.
The first round of matches is scheduled for October 24-25 October, followed by Round 2, which will on October 31 to 1 November. The final round will be played at the National Sports Centre on November 7.
The 10-a-side world 10’s series comprises eight privately-owned teams from around the globe, featuring world-class players.
