Nondies statement on Phares Mbadi’s death

The Kenya Rugby fraternity is mourning following the loss of Phares Mbadi Olwero who died on Monday evening.

His parent club Nondies have released a statement announcing the death of the player. Details on the cause of his death were not revealed following the request by the family of the deceased to have some privacy.

“Nondescripts RFC regret to announce the untimely death of Phares Mbadi a member of the First XV playing squad for the last 3 seasons. Phares joined Nondies in 2017 from Upperhill School and has been an integral member of the Team and Club.”

“The family has asked for privacy and consideration in this difficult period and will give further details on his death and subsequent internment. The Ranger’s fraternity sends their condolences to his family and friends.

“At this difficult time, I call upon the Club to stand together and offer solace to Mbadi’s family, close friends and mates. May his soul Rest in Peace.”

The former Upper Hill school captain who played as a fullback will be laid to rest in his paternal home in Rongo sub-county, Nyakwere village on Wednesday 8th July 2020. The body will leave Lee funeral home on Tuesday 7th July for Rongo

The player enjoyed playtime at fullback with Nondies in the 2019/20 campaign which they finished 10th on the Kenya Cup standings with 26 points, 15 above Western Bulls who finished 11th on the log.

Phares captained UpperHill to win Nairobi Metropolitan title and led the side to a second-place finish in the National 7s Games in 2016.
