Kenya 7s star Collins Injera has termed the decision by International Olympic Committee to postpone the Tokyo Olympics as a wise.
IOC on Tuesday 24 March announced that the Olympic Games have been postponed till 2021.
The decision to postpone the Olympics was arrived at in order to safeguard the health of athletes and everyone who will be involved in the Tokyo 2020 Games.
Though Injera feels that it is unfortunate the 2020 showpiece has been pushed backwards, he holds that protecting the health of the athletes and other participant is important.
“Unfortunate but Very wise decision by IOC to postpone the summer Olympic games to no later than summer of 2021, Health is more important, take care of yourself and protect others #washyourhands #socialdistancing #tokyo2020,” Injera posted.
Injera has played 424 matches in the World 7s Series and only Dan Norton, Tim Mikkelson and Dj Forbes have made more appearances than him in the 7s Series.
The Vihiga High School Alumnus has scored 279 tries for Kenya which puts him second on the all-time top try scorers list. Between May 2016-April 2017 he held the record of the man with the most number of tries in the Series.
Injera is the only Kenyan with three World Cup appearances.
