Former Welsh international Matthew J Watkins funeral to be streamed online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Blackwood’s Woodfield Park Funeral Director have made a statement that only those closest to him will be in attendance while others catch the funeral online.
“During these uncertain times, we ask that only family and close friends attend Matthew’s funeral service,”
“This may be subject to change and further restrictions pending government advice. This is simply to help protect the family and staff that will be in attendance,”
“The funeral service will be streamed online for anyone wishing to see from the safety of their own home details of how to view the service will be posted. Please check this notice again closer to the time of the funeral.” Part of the statement read.
Watkins who died of a rare form of pelvic cancer had picked up 18 caps for Wales making more than 300 appearances at the Dragons, Gloucester and the Scalerts in 14-year career. He retired in 2011 and died early this month aged 40. His funeral is set for March 31.
