Crusaders head coach Scott Robertson has sent word to the Super Rugby governing body SANZAAR urging them to embrace creativity amid the Coronavirus crisis to ensure the season does not end prematurely.
SANZAAR have postponed the competition following New Zealand government’s directive for all incoming travellers to self-quarantine for 14 days due to the Coronavirus fears.
Robertson expressed his understanding of the decision but hopes the competition will not change when things normalize.
“Be creative. If it is local NZ derbies, origin matches over the next few months and when we play the leader of the other conference, or if things kickoff and the borders are relaxed in a months time and we have a shorter version.” Robertson said.
He further said whatever the opportunity is the leaders of SANZAAR have to make a good call on what they think is right.
“Whatever the opportunity is, the leaders of SANZAAR have to make a good call on what they think is the right thing with all the broadcasters, sponsors and fans.”
The crusaders beat Sunwolves 49-14 over the weekend despite a yellow and red card to take the top spot in the Newzealand conference standings.
