With the Burial date for Kenyan International and KCB’s departed star Tony Onyango confirmed, Kenya Rugby Union has moved to reschedule the remaining Kenya Cup, KRU Championship, Eric Shirley Shield and Enterprise Cup semi-final/final fixtures.
Though the playoffs will go on as planned on 14 March, the Kenya Cup, ESS and Championship semis which were set for 21 March have now been pushed back to 28 March as the rugby fraternity is expected to attend Onyango’s burial which set for Friday 20 March.
4 April which was to be the Kenya Cup final date will be dedicated to the Enterprise and Mwamba Cup semis. The Great Rift 10 aside will not be affected by the changes as it remains to be on the Easter Weekend.
The Kenya Cup, ESS and KRU Championship final will now be played on 18 April while the Enterprise Cup will be a weekend later.
“These changes have risen following the confirmation of 20 March as the burial date for departed KCB and Kenya utility back Tony Onyango who passed away last week,” reads a statement by KRU.
