Kwale, Shimba win Kwale County rugby title, Barani, Krapf shine in Kilifi

Shimba Hills were crowned Kwale County 7s champions after they saw off Kaya Tiwi 5-0 in a fiercely contested match in Kwale.

Kaya Tiwi had earlier ran rampant against Mazeras in the semifinals beating them 22-0. Shimba Hills were made to dig deep to conjure a 5-0 victory over Samburu in the second semis. Both teams will represent Kwale County in the Coast 7s regional games later this month.

In 15s final, Mwavumbo were kept scoreless in the 40-0 thrashing at the hands of Kwale High School. Kwale high had earlier edged Taru 6-3 with Mwavumbo eliminating Waa by a 12-9 scoreline to set up a rather one-sided final.

In the neighbouring Kilifi County, Barani staged a stunning performance to claim the 7s mug. Barani knocked out Township 22-0 in the quarterfinals before defeating Rabai 19-0 in the semis. They won the 7s final courtesy of a 12-0 win over Galana. Barana’s defense only leaked a single try the entire tournament and it was against Garashi.

In 15s, Krapf School ran the show. They overcame Galana 40-3 in the semis before blanking St. George’s 34-0 in the finals.
