Match officials for the Kenya Cup clash pitting Kabras and Blak Blad which was full of emotions have ended the clash prematurely at a time when Kabras were leading 15-3.

The Kenya Rugby Union will now be expected to give further directions according to one of the officials. The clash was stopped two minutes after the second-half restart.

According to Kabras Head Coach Henly Du Plessis, their opponents could not accept the decision by the referee to cancel their try.

“The try was reversed and the scrum was allocated but they could not accept. We did not want to end the season this way we really wanted to play 80,” Du Plessis told Scrummage.

If Kabras lead in this clash is counted as win then they will end the season on top with 74 points just like last season.

Blad gave Kabras a run for their money by thwarting their early attempts to score. Brian Tanga kept beating Blad defence line but was not allowed to get to the try line by the students.

Kabras would opt to ease the pressure by taking points and Ntabeni Dukisa hit the target with his first attempt for three points. A minute of a bitter exchange was witnessed but Kabras would add more points to the scoresheet thereafter.

Fullback Jone Kubu crossed over for the opening try for Kabras after a build-up from a scrum. The Sugarmen failed to add the extras while Blad pulled back with a penalty to cut the gap to five points.

It was after Laban Chege came in for Kelvin Gathu. Kabras were able to add the second try with Dukisa charging down Brian Wahinya’s kick to score a converted try for a 15-3 lead just before halftime.

On return from the break, Achadius Khwesa got on the scoresheet but his try was disallowed. The decision led to scuffles on the touchline which saw the clash temporarily put on hold.

After minutes without an agreement, the referee call off the clash
