Western Bulls relegated by Homeboyz defeat

Western Bulls will not be part of the 2020/21 Kenya Cup season after losing to Homeboyz 56-6 in the final home match of the season played at the Bull Ring.

The defeat to the Deejayz mean the maximum points Echulusi can get even if they win the final fixture of the season is 18 which will still be below the safety zone as Kenya Harlequins and Nondies have 22 and 21 points respectively before their matchday 15 fixtures.

Conceding first

Echulusi came to this seeking to pick maximum points which would have seen them wait till the last day of the season to know their fate. They started off the clash by conceding an early try which was touched down by Homeboyz winger Zeden Marrow. Mohammed Omollo was unable to stretch the lead for Homeboyz as he was unable to hit the target.

Bulls trimmed the gap with a penalty. Homeboyz moved to 10 points after Stanley Isogol rose from a ruck and touched downed the second try. Omollo this time round got his conversion attempt right for a 12-3 lead. The hosts Homeboyz halved the gap by drilling in another penalty for a 12-6 lead at halftime.

Second half

On return from the break, the Deejays initiated an attack from a line out and centre Bob Muhati returned to haunt his former employers with a touch down that went unconverted.

Michael Wanjala Matayo then landed the bonus point try after he sidestepped past his markers for a converted try.  The hosts were dealt a blow after the referee dished out a yellow card and a penalty try. Eighth man Isogol crossed over for his second try at the left corner but substitute Ervin Asena failed to score the conversion.

Collins Shikoli then came off the bench and scored twice while Asena added the extras for a 56-6 win.  Western Bulls face playoffs-chasing Nakuru in the final match in the top tier
