MMUST hold off resilient Eldoret

MMUST have defeated Eldoret RFC 5-0 in a fiercely contested clash to pile on more miseries to the relegation-threatened side Eldoret in a match staged at Fr. Kizito Grounds, Moi University.

Eldoret RFC started off strongly pitching camp in MMUST 22 but were unlucky not to get the points on board. Both teams attempt to land penalty goal off the tee earlier on was unsuccessful.

MMUST were first to break the points duck courtesy of inside centre John Bahati. A quick turn over ball by MMUST followed by quick passes down the left channel found John Bahati unmarked who raced to ground the ball in the corner flag. Eldoret would cut the deficit just before the halftime break but an attempted penalty by wing Nelly Mulama sailed wide. The game went for halftime with MMUST holding a 5-0 slim lead.

In the second 40, despite MMUST’s fullback being sent to the bin, Eldoret were unable to capitalise on the one-man less advantage to put points on board. On the other hand, MMUST also failed to land any points in the second stanza. The game ended 5-0 in favour of the visitors. Eldoret, however, have managed to get one point losing bonus by the virtue of loosing with less than 7 points.
