Kenya Harlequins explain Aluda Beda’s lengthy absence

Kenya Harlequins have been without winger Aluda Beda in the opening  13 Kenya Cup matches and Head Coach Dominique Habimana has revealed that the speedster is recovering from a lower back injury.

The winger who was acquired from Kenya Cup side Kabras in 2018 last played for Quins during the Prinsloo 7s where they picked seven points. He has not appeared for them this season and Habimana says he has been struggling with a back injury though he is expected to return soon as he has resumed light training.

“Beda is struggling with a lower back injury which he got last year. He started light training three weeks ago and we are closely monitoring him. He is yet to get into full contact but he is running and having gym sessions,” Habimana said after their Enterprise Cup round of 16 match against Homeboyz.

Kenya Harlequins are also hoping to have Mark Wandeto who was signed from Homeboyz cleared to feature for the side. Edward Shitanda was recently cleared and was part of their 39-13 loss to Homeboyz.

“We finalized Shitanda’s deal so he played for us against Homeboyz and we are hoping to also finalize Mark Wandeto’s move,” he added.

Quins are keen to right from the bottom and will be taking on Western Bulls this weekend.
