Homeboyz tactician Jason Hector has been rotating his squad on a weekly basis and he says the reason behind the changes is to avoid overplaying his players.
The side is enjoying a fine form despite the rotation and the South African coach holds that their aim is to ensure they rotate the squad and maintain the fine form. He pointed out that overplaying players may lead to overdependence on certain individuals.
He also feels using players repeatedly may lead to burning out or picking injuries hence losing them at a crucial stage of the season.
“We don’t want to overplay a player. We want to rotate our squad as much as possible and ensure we stay consistent. The risk of overplaying is that you become overdependent on them and you risk losing them either to injury or fatigue due. So for us, player welfare comes first and you will see several teams doing this,” Hector told the Scrummage.
Homeboyz will be hoping to carry the fine form witnessed in Kenya Cup to the Enterprise Cup where they face Kenya Harlequins. They will be out to revenge last season elimination which saw them get knocked out by Quins at the opening round.
