Kabras trounce Mwamba to hit 60-point mark

Kabras fine form in the top tier continued as the whipped  Mwamba 56-13 in a Kenya Cup match played at the Bull Ring in Kakamega County on Saturday to complete a double.

The Kakamega based side has now amassed 60 points from 13 league matches played this season and will stay top on the Kenya Cup log.

Kabras came to this eyeing the 12th win of the season and started off impressively to bag five converted tries before halftime.  Fullback  Jone Kubu set up centre Timoci Senaite and the Fijian who has been absent in the last two matches scored his 10th try of the season.  Ntabeni Dukisa added the extras for a 7-0 lead.

Kubu then joined the scoresheet touching down a try which also marked his 10th of the season. Dukisa continued to impress from the tee adding two more points for 14-0 lead.  Mwamba pulled back via a penalty kick, cutting the gap to 12 points.

Dukisa stretched the lead for Kabras at the other end,  scoring and converting his own for an 18-point lead. Dukisa also converted the fourth try which came from flanker George Nyambua.  Kubu landed his second of the day before halftime and Dukisa’s marked 100% conversion rate by scoring the fifth conversion for a 35-3 scoreline at halftime.

In the closing half, youngster Eugene Sifuna opened the second half scores, touching down the sixth of the day and his sixth of the season. Henly Du Plessis coached side added the seventh try as Dukisa converted the for the seventh straight time for Kabras to close in on a 50-point mark.

Former Nakuru RFC man Walter Okoth joined the scoring party with eighth try. Mwamba earned their opening try via substitute Deus Mudaki and the try was converted for 56-10 trail.

Mwamba added a penalty and the game ended 56-13. Kabras had won the first leg 43-9.
