MMUST & Mean Machine with emphatic wins, Strathmore stretch fine run

Former Kenya Cup side Strathmore Leos impressive run in the second tier continued as they beat Northern Suburbs 22-0 at Catholic University Grounds.

The win was them stay on top of the log and have won 12 matches since making their first appearance in the tournament in 2019.

Their closest challengers MMUST also picked a win thrashing visiting Egerton Wasps 41-0 at MMUST Grounds. It was the 11th win for the side in the KRU Championship.

Venance Shikuba opened the score sheet after Isaiah Mulongo set him up. At the 25th Solomon Rabin missed a chance to trim after sending his kick wide.

Lameck Ambetsa scored the second try for MMUST as Tyson Juma kick went wide leaving the scores at 12-0 at half time.

Kevin Abuga came in to replace Veron Kaburu in the second half and he beat Wasp’s backline to give Dr. Ahaya Ochieng side the third try but Juma was unable to make a conversion.

Mark Samba- a flanker had a break to get the fourth try while Timothy Mmasi and Claus Shirievo added a try to each to stretch the lead 41-0.

Mean Machine were biggest winners of the day pummelling South Coast Pirates 43-18 to stay third on the log. The win ensured they stayed 10 points behind MMUST.

Kisii beat UoE Trojans 11-3 as USIU pipped Eldoret 15-13 while Monks beat Mombasa 32-15.
