Italy Six Nations squad named, Sergio Parisse missing

While Six Nations 2020 preparations are underway Italy has released a 35 man squad for the tournament, Sergio Parisse is however missing in the squad by coach Franco Smith.

Parrise will not feature in the opening two rounds but is expected to feature later in the tournament.

31 of the players called come from two Italian pro 14 Franchises, 16 from Zebre and 15 from Benetton. Smith said the squad is a mixture of experience and young players seeking to establish themselves internationally.

“In the squad we have a mix of experience and young players who want to establish themselves on the international rugby scene.”

“Everyone’s contribution from the start will be fundamental in order to better prepare for the opening game in an increasingly competitive and exciting tournament.” He added.

Niccolo Cannone,and Alberto Sgrabi captain of Benetton will also feature. The squad camps in Rome from 19-26 January.On Sunday January 26, Italy will move to Verona ahead of their opening encounter of the Six Nations against Wales at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
