ESS round up: Kabras, KCB, Bulls win, Homeboyz held

Kabras II withstood a fightback from Nakuru II to pick a 22-14 win in an Eric Shirley Shield match staged at Nakuru Athletic Club.

The Kakamega based side took a 17-3 lead to the break, this was after Jeanson Musoga scored the opening try for the side and Dan Angwech added the extras.  The club’s captain Max Adaka who had been drafted in the ESS side after returning from injury landed the second try following a maul by the Sugarmen.

Just before halftime, Johnstone Mung’au set up Valerian Tendwa who landed his try to send the side 17-0 up. Nakuru, on the other hand, drilled in a penalty to trail 17-3. On return, Kabras landed their fourth try for a bonus point before Nakuru scored 11 unanswered points. Kabras, however, held on to win.

At KCB Sports Club, ESS holders KCB started off strongly whipping Blak Blad 65-06 while Impala and Homeboyz played to a 10-10 draw.

Western Bulls picked a 7-0 win over Nondies as Kenya Harlequins got a 28-0 after Kisumu failed to avail themselves.
