South Coast Pirates: MMUST were hungrier

South Coast Pirates Head Coach Howard Okwemba insists that his charges played according to plan and it’s only the results that didn’t go their way.

The Ukunda based side travelled 892.2 Kilometres to Kakamega where they suffered a  51-9 at MMUST Grounds. Okwemba believes that their opponents MMUST made the home advantage count and were hungrier.

“We played according to our plan but the results did not go our way. MMUST were more hungry than us then they were at ease due to the home advantage, ”  Okwemba told Scrummage.

The tactician has had a good run at home since taking over the side and he is hoping to stretch the run early next year when he plays the first match of the year at home.

“We have two weeks before we resume our matches. Being a home game, we would want to rise from this and pick a win,” he added.

South Coast Pirates have 17 points following four wins in the opening nine matches.  They are placed ninth on the log and will be seeking to rise further in the new year.
