Kenya Harlequins edge Blad for second win of the season

Kenya Harlequins beat Blakblad 21-17 to get their second win of the season at the Kenyatta university grounds.

Quins drew first blood through a try birthed out of a maul from the hosts’ 22-metre line the conversion by Lyle Asiligwa was also good handing them a 7-0.  Quins enjoyed possession in the better part of the first half however Blad’s defence proved solid not giving room for scores.

Continuous handling errors would deny Quins the second try giving the students opportunities to have the ball out of their territory. A loose defence gave Kenyatta University students an opportunity to equalize through Archadius Khwesa who received a grubber from Kelvin Gathu the conversion was also perfect.

Collins Obure got sent off for an infringement in the scrum leaving the hosts one man less. A promising attack by the guests was cut short by a knock-on in the 22 area.  Eden Agero would, however, make up for the mistake latching on a kick to score another converted try.

The second had the visitors dash past the whitewash first through Mark Omonding who got an assist from Roxy Suchi and the gap widened to 21-7.

Blakblads hunt for points handed them a penalty which reduced the marginal difference. Arcadius Khwesa then ran past Quins defence to make his second try while Gathu ensured the extras were also pocketed. The guests were continuously disadvantaged by their handling errors which the students took advantage of fully.

Moves close to giving the hosts a win were barred by a knock on which would be the final play of the game handing Quins the second win of the season.
