South African tactician Neil Powell is expecting a physical encounter from Kenya 7s as they meet in the Cape Town 7s quarterfinals.
The two African sides will meet in the first quarterfinal date set for 12:18 and Powell is aware of the test that awaits them. He knows Kenya 7s strength and believes they will be full of confidence after day one and two performances.
“They are a big, strong and physical team and will play that way against us. They will also have a lot of confidence because they finished second in their pool,” he is quoted by SA Rugby Magazine.
The coach hopes that they will be able to solve their discipline issues before the knock-out matches. The Dubai 7s winners conceded many penalties and yellow cards in the win over USA.
“We are not happy with the yellow cards and the amount of penalties we conceded, as we’re a team that strives for zero cards and penalties and to concede this many is a bit worrying. We will have a serious look at our discipline because we cannot afford to go into the knockout stages and make those same mistakes again.”
The last time they met was in Dubai with South Africa winning 17-12.
