Samurai 7s were impressive in their pool B matches at Algarve 7s staged at Real de Santo Antonio Stadium & Sports Complex in Portugal.
The side which comprise of a squad of players and management from eight different countries has four Kenyan International.
Oscar Ouma, Felix Ayange, Billy Odhiambo and Michael Agevi featured for the side as it went on to pick three straight wins on day one of the competition.
The side kicked off their campaign with a 22-7 win over Chinese side Shandong in a Pool B opener.
Their second match was against Frenchside Seventise, a side that had beaten them 24-19 during the Amsterdam 7s finals last weekend. Samurai were able to revenge the defeat with a 24-12 win.
Michael Agevi support play saw him earn a clear chance and he raced on to score the opening try.
A quick tap from a penalty saw Billy Odhiambo glide past the defence to double the lead while Oscar Ouma crossed over for the fourth try. Their final game was against Hong Kong and it ended in a 28-15 win.
The side will be hoping to carry the fine form witnessed on day one to day two.
Last weekend the side had a fine run on day one but lost the final game on day two at the Amsterdam 7s. In St Petersburg a fortnigh ago the side had a similar fine run on day one while on day two they lost their main cup quarter final clash.
They however won their final two matches to finish as fifth place winners.
