Kenya 7s ended the 2019 World 7s Series at position 13 with 37 points after 10 rounds of the season, with their best performance ever being at the Paris 7s where they amassed 10 points.
Paul Murunga coached side scored at total of 839 points in the outings. They scored 133 tries and 87 conversions in the campaign. Among the core sides in the Series, Kenya 7s and Canada left the competition with the record of sides that played the least number of matches (53) in the season. Fiji and New Zealand topped the list with 60 matches.
Despite missing the Paris 7s due to an injury, debutant Daniel Taabu ended the season as Kenya 7s top points scorer with 157 Points. It was after scoring 15 tries and 41 conversions
Vincent Onyala bagged 112 points for the side while Johnstone Olindi got 102. Bush Mwale and Jeff Olouch complete the top five list with 80 and 60 points respectively.
Onyala finished the campaign as the top try scorer having crossed over 22 times for Kenya. He was placed 24th on the overall top try scorers in 2019. Mwale came second on try scorers list with 16 tries while Taabu bagged 15 tries in the campaign. Olouch and Olindi tied at 12 tries each.
On the conversion’s list Olindi came second with 21 points 20 behind Taabu. Michael Wanjala scored 14 conversion while Eden Agero split the posts seven times.
Onyala also featured in the most number of matches for Kenya 7s. He made 48 appearances for Kenya while Olindi had 47 appearances. Taabu with 42, Mwale with 41 and Cyprian Kuto with 35 complete the top five list.
Top on the list of most tackles made is Olindi with 66, the youngster had two more tackles than Onyala who came second. Skipper Jacob Ojee and Mwale are tied at 60 each while Olouch had 43.
Mwamba ace Taabu had the most clean breaks with 23, topping the list that had usual suspects Olouch, Olindi, Onyala and Mwale.
Mwale topped the list of most runs with 135, Taabu had 132 and they are joined by Olouch, Olindi and Onyala.
