Kenya exit Paris 7s after sudden death loss to France

Kenya 7s have collected 10 points from Paris 7s -the final leg of the World 7s Series after a 26-21 extra time loss to France in the fifth place semis played at Jean Boiun Stadium

Prior to this, France had beaten Kenya 7s in the last four meetings  this season. Kenya’s last win over France was on 26 January where they picked a 19-14.  Paul Murunga’s charges were keen to avoid another defeat to end the season on a high but France proved to be superior.

Nelson Oyoo opened the scores after producing a clear pair of the heels from his 22 to score. Extras from Johnston Olindi ensured Kenya led 7-0. Marvin O’connor did not give Kenya time to celebrate as he earned his side a converted try.

Oyoo added his second try after being set up by Olindi to take his weekend tally five tries. Michael Wanjala was there to split the post for a 14-7 scoreline.

In the final half, Cyprian Kuto support on Bush Mwale saw him latch on a pass and evaded his opponents for Kenya’s third converted try.  Manoel Dall’igna’s try which was converted by Jean Pascal Barraque kept the host in the game.

Kenya would hold on despite late pressure but they were however dealt a blow after Andrew Amonde was sent off. Barraque would send the clash to extras time after a converting their late try.

In extra time Jonathan Laugel scored to send Kenya 7s out. France will face off the winner of the clash Samoa Argentina clash 18:46.
