The Elgon Cup second leg pitting Uganda cranes and Kenya Simbas will be played on 13 July in Kampala.
The return leg will be 20 days after the first leg which set for 22nd of June 2019. Kisumu RFC’s home ground Mamboleo Showgrounds is expected to host the first leg encounter. It will the first time in three years that first leg will be held in Kenya.

Last year, the first leg was held at the Legends Club in Kampala in May. Kenya Simbas under Coach Ian Snook won the match 34-16 thanks to five tries, three conversions and a penalty while the hosts managed a solitary try, one conversion and three penalties.
Jacob Ojee, Lock Oliver Mang’eni, Leo Seje, Elkeans Musonye, and Biko Adema were the try scorers in the clash. The Simbas retained the title after 38-22 win in the return leg at RFUEA. The side scored five tries once again in the return leg
This year’s Elgon Cup will involve Women’s action that will be making a return after a four year absence, 2015 being the last time the ladies took part in the competition.
The women’s Elgon cup was first played in 2006 before coming to an abrupt stop in 2015. Women rugby in both countries has been on a meteoric rise in the recent past and the tournament will be a perfect opportunity for them to build upon their growth.
