How Kenyan Internationals performed at the European 7s

Kenyan International Dennis Ombachi walked away with a bronze medal after his side Zastava Rugby finished third at the European 7s held at St Peterburg in Russia on Saturday and Sunday.

Zastava started off their day one campaign by winning all their opening three matches. They beat STUEA 38-10, Georgian Boys 18-10 and sealed their impressive run with a 21-17 win over Froggy.

On day two, the side matched through to the semis but their title hopes were dent after a loss to fellow Russians VVA Moscow region who were later crowned as Champions after beating Baltrex.

Samurai 7s which had the likes of Collins Injera, Billy Odhiambo, Michael Agevi, Felix Ayange, Oscar Ouma and South African fly-half Logan Basson won the plate final.

The side which was captained by Nakuru RFC dangerman Ouma beat French Froggies  20-5 for the plate. It was after being eliminated from the main cup quarters following a 14-12 loss to VVA Moscow region.

On day one, of the competition, Samurai had an impressive run, winning all their three matches. The started off day one matches with a 31-7 over Latvian side Miesnieki.

They later picked a 36-0 win over Grasshopper Club and concluded their day one schedule with a 19-5 win over Baltrex-Šiauliai.

Samurai now shift focus on defending the Amsterdam 7s next weekend (1st & 2nd June).
