For the first time, Kakamega County will host two rugby finals all set for Saturday 18 May at Kabras backyard, Kakamega Showground.
The KRU Championship final pitting Western bulls and Kisumu RFC who have been promoted to the top tier has been moved to the Kakamega Showground.
It will serve as the curtain raiser for the finals and the clash will commence at 1:30 PM. Kisumu made it to the finals after beating Catholic Monks following a sudden death penalty by Lenny Obiero.
Western Bulls who finished the regular season at number three beat USIU 22-17 to return to the top tier after two season in the second tier.
The finals will kick off at 3:45 PM where Kabras will take on KCB Rugby in the Kenya Cup finals.
Kabras have met with KCB in the final for the last two seasons in a row. To reach the finals beat Mwamba 23-11 in the semis staged in Kakamega. This marks their fifth appearance in the finals.
KCB are in the finals for the third time in a row thanks to 46-13 win over Kenya Harlequins in the semis which were staged at KCB Sports Club.
In the previous season the finals have been held in Nairobi County. Nairobi will host the Eric Shirley Shield finals pitting KCB II and Homeboyz II set KCB Sports Club at 2 PM.
