MMUST will have to wait for another season to see if they will book a ticket to Kenya’s top tier, this is after a 26-8 loss to Kisumu RFC in the quarters played at Mamboleo Grounds.
For Kisumu their dream is more than alive with Catholic Monks being the lone hurdle in their journey back to Kenya Cup. MMUST were first on the scoresheet through Timothy Mmasi’s try but they allowed Kisumu back in the game and the hosts went on to brave the wet weather to score a try and a penalty for an 11-5 lead at the break.
In the closing half, Kisumu added 15 more points while MMUST managed just three points in the clash. The hosts would win the match to return to the semis for the second time in a row.
Western Bulls have also qualified for the semis of the KRU Championship without kicking a ball after Mombasa pulled out of the quarterfinal clash which was slated for the Bull Ring in Kakamega.
