Winning starts for Homeboyz, Nakuru at the Great Rift 10s

Great Rift 10 Aside opening round saw defending Champions Homeboyz, Impala Saracens, KCB,  hosts Nakuru, Oilers and Strathmore pick wins at the Nakuru Athletic Club.

Impala Saracens were the first on the pitch and they downed Nondies 17-0. The Gazelles got on the scoresheet via Elvis Oroko after being set up by  Derrick Wechuli.

In the closing half, Patrick Mutuku sneaked to the try box to send his side 12-0 up after converting his own try.  Spencer Obiero then teed up Emmanuel Okeya through a grabber and Okeya latched on the kick to score for a 17-0 win.

Homeboyz/ KCB

Defending Champions Homeboyz kicked off their campaign with a 15-0 win over JKUAT Cougars. The Deejays ran three unconverted tries to win the second pool A match.

In Pool B, KCB crossed over for four tries and converted one to beat Egerton Wasps 22-0. Championship side MMUST were handed a walkover (24-0) after Kiambu failed to turn up.

Strathmore beat UoE 24-0 in Pool C’s  opener while Blak Blad were awarded a walkover over Moi University who had been called in to replace Kabras.

Nakuru

Hosts Nakuru Started off their campaign with a 24-0 victory over Makueni RFC.  Four tries with two being converted were enough for Mitch Ocholla charges.

Nakuru’s neighbours Oilers beat Mean Machine 17-0 to join the big boys on the winning list. Derrick Mbaire, Harold Anduvate scored for Gibson Weru coached side.

Kenya Harlequins did not enter the competition while Mwamba pulled out.
