Kenya 7s pick first win in Singapore 7s

Kenya 7s registered the first win in the Singapore 7s after a 19-14 victory over Wales in the final clash in Pool C.

Shujaa had lost the opening two games against England and USA. The East Africans were banking on their record against Wales that had seen them win five of the last six meetings in the World 7s Series.

Kenya 7s struck first after Vincent Onyala beat Wales defence line to sprint from his own half and scored at the centre for an easy conversion for Kenya.

The side would allow Wales to respond immediately through Ryan Conbeer. Kenya headed to break leading 14-0 after Oscar Dennis’ debut try sent Kenya to 12 points.  Taabu’s second conversion sent Kenya to 14-7.

In the last Stanzas, Eden Agero set up Taabu who raced on to score Kenya’s third try. Tom Rogers pulled one back to cut the gap to five points.

Kenya held on the slim win the match.
