Kenya went to the break trailing 10-5 after Josefina Padellar and Maria Florencia Moreno dotted two unconverted tries for the Las Pumas. Just before the break, Janet Okello made a long sprint which saw her touch down to trim the gap to five points.
Despite Moreno being sent off for a sin-bin at the start of the second half, the Argentines stretched their lead to 15-5 after María Paula Pedrozo dotted their third unconverted try.
On-form Grace Adhiambo Okulu would then create a gap and managed to sneak to the try line to score the second try that was converted by Janet Owino. Kenya would add the third and winning try after Camilla Atieno forced her way to the try line.
Japan, on the other hand, will face Scotland in the second semi-final
