The Kenya Rugby Union has entered a partnership deal with Chukua Selfie which sees them come in as Kenya 7s shirt sponsors for the remaining four legs of the World 7s Series.
In the deal, Kenya will Kenya 7s receive a total of kshs. 14 million. Kenya has been without a front shirt sponsor since the exit of Brand Kenya. Bidco has been the lone sponsor for the side.
KRU Chairman Odour Gangla has termed the deal as timely as it will help meet the needs of the team.
“This sponsorship is timely, and it will enable us to meet priority needs for Shujaa as they take on the world this season. We are also aware of the importance of promoting self-testing for both our players and fans. This is why we gladly accepted this partnership,” said Oduor Gangla, the newly elected KRU Chairman in a statement released by KRU.
Chukua Selfie Brand representative Eric Achola on his part said they chose rugby as it has the right target audience.
“We chose rugby because it is widely followed by our target audience, we want to remind all the young men that even as they have fun they need to do so responsibly.”
Kenya 7s who will be taking on the pitch at 2:37 PM will don the Chukua Selfie branded jerseys. Chukua Selfie is a Menstar coalition campaign encouraging 18-24-year-old men to know their HIV status through self-test.
